Chanel No5 Holiday 2021 Collection REVIEW

04:00 0 Comments

 Hi guys,

It’s been a while since I actually posted on my blog! I’ve been trying to get back into social since I had a little break due to being so busy with work for the past year!

I wanted my first post back to be about a very popular collection from Chanel. There has never been a Chanel collection where I actually bought multiple items - I bought the blush duo for spring 2021, and that was really the only limited edition piece I purchased … until now that is.

When I saw the collection advertised, I know that I needed to pick up almost one of everything as there are items I’ve never tried before!

Every piece is limited edition with the exception of the lipstick in the shade Pirate.

My try on video is above on my YouTube channel and here

I have photos from each item I purchased, as well as a little review for each product and if I’d recommend picking them up.

Chanel No5 Holiday Eyeshadow Palette

This palette is actually the first one I’ve tried out from Chanel, and I was so excited to start using it. The shades are beautiful - matte black, gold shimmer, frosted white and an iridescent white.

The embossed pans are a great touch they’ve added as the collection is based on Chanel No5.

Saying this, I do wish they had exchanged the top white shade for a transition shade as I can’t use this palette on its own - I either have to go in with my bronzer or a shade from another palette - and that completely defeats the purpose of having a quad.

The gold and iridescent white (bottom) swatched beautifully however I would say to use your fingers to Pat on the colour as it will make more of an impact.

The black was a bit of a let down for me as it swatches quite sheer and you need to build the colour up quite a lot. This isn’t so bad if you just like a wash of colour, but for me a Smokey eye is all about the drama.

The frosted white also didn’t swatch the best and I could only really use this as a topper which you don’t need as the iridescent shade is so beautiful and can easily replace this.

I’ve used the palette quite a few times to create a softer look by using a brown from another palette and using the gold and iridescent shades as a highlighter and lid shade which look beautiful. I like that you can use this palette softly or deeper depending on which shades you use.

The packaging is beautiful just like any other Chanel quad, and you have the gold CC instead of the plain white on the packaging.

The packaging is very sturdy and you have the little applicators for if you’re on the go, or if you want to create an eyeliner with the black.

Overall, it’s a nice palette and if you want to collect them I’d say go ahead and buy, but other than that you don’t NEED to buy it.

The lack of transition shade and pigmentation of 2 of the shades brings the score down.

Score : 7/10

Chanel Fluide Elumineur in Or Ivoire

This is the first illuminizer I’ve tried from Chanel - even though I have the other 2 shades of the healthy glow highlighters but have yet to try.

I have to say that I was pretty worried when I saw the shade that it would be too to however when swatched and applied to my skin, this gives such a beautiful wash of colour and shimmer (when mixed with foundation) and a gorgeous highlight when added to the specific points of the face.

You get A LOT of product for the price - £40 for 30ml or 1 fl oz - and you don’t even need to use an entire pump when highlighting the face so a little goes a very long way! When compared to benefit high beam which is £15.50 for 6ml, (£2.58 vs £1.33 per ml) it works out much better in the long run!

I used 1 pump when I mixed with foundation, but only 3-4 drops to highlight my cheekbones, nose, lip and brow bone and that’s with me adding several layer to the cheekbones!

The highlight is BLINDING but you can tone it down by doing a no makeup makeup look or by simply using less product. This doesn’t need to be set with powder - and I have very oily skin!

It also doesn’t irritate my very sensitive skin or break my acne prone skin out either.

This is a staple in my makeup routine now and I even purchased a second bottle as a backup as it’s limited so won’t be able to buy again.

Overall, I absolutely ADORE this product and I will constantly recommend them to everyone!

Score: 1000/10

Chanel Baume Essentiel in Or

This product is one of those that I wish I had never bought! I haven’t tried this product but I heard a lot of people raving about them, saying you can get a glass skin effect and that it looks beautiful on the skin.

This limited edition version has gold sparkles - reminiscent to the Chanel No5 bottle.

Well, I don’t see the hype around this at all.

To me, it literally was like I had just rubbed Vaseline on my collarbone and shoulders. There’s a tiny hint of shimmer but it’s not noticeable.

For £35, I thought that it would be something revolutionary. It wasn’t and isn’t. If I want the same effect, I would rub some Vaseline on me, or if I want a better effect, I’d just use my body glow from Revolution which is £15 for a huge bottle!

Plus, when I twisted the product a little and tried to twist it back down, it didn’t want to budge so I had to push it down with my finger - not the most sanitary product.

I don’t recommend it and I suggest you save your money.

Score: 0/10

Chanel No 5 Rouge Allure Lipsticks

I don’t think I’ve purchased these intense lipsticks before - and they don’t tend to do anything other than matte when they do a collection so this was a pleasant surprise.

I picked up 3 of the 5 shades as 4 were different variations of red and there was one nude-pink (although the website states it’s a red).

The shades I picked up were 176 Independante, 99 Pirate and 191 Rouge Brulant. When looking at the reds separately, you can’t really see much difference, but when putting them side by side they look nothing the same!

Independante is more or a bright red, where as Pirate is a true red. Both were very different to eachother so could justify buying the two. I only tend to go for red in winter and around Christmas so they wouldn’t get much used out of them. I’ve wanted Pirate for a long time as it’s one of Chanel’s classic shades and is always on the must buy lists on all blogs and most on YouTube.

Rouge Brulant I picked up as I always go for pink-nude lipsticks and this was slightly different as it has a hint of red. It’s very strange as I don’t have a shade that looks like this and I have a lot of lipsticks!

The only shade I have worn is independante and it’s STUNNING! The shade is very pigmented - one swipe is enough. Stays on most of the day and just elevates any look. I highly recommend picking this up if you only want to buy a lipstick - you won’t be disappointed.

Overall, I really like this formula and it’s probably my favourite formula for Chanel lipsticks - the Rouge Allure Lacque and Tenue Duos are my favourite lip colours overall from Chanel. I will get a lot of use out of Independante as it’s so beautiful and I don’t have anything the same in my collection.

I’ve given a point off as they don’t stay on All day and you need to reapply after a while.

Score - 9/10

Final thoughts

Overall, this collection was nice, but there are only a couple of pieces I’d say to buy if you want to get something from the collection.

The illuminizer and the Independante Lipstick are my go-to product as I can see me using these until they’re finished. Go and pick these 2 items up if you want to buy from the collection.

Only buy the palette if you really love the shades or if you’re a collector. You don’t need to buy it but it’s a nice piece.

Don’t buy the Baume Essentiel unless you know you love the formula and the product - this you can just skip.

Thanks for reading and watching,

TESTING NEW VIRAL DRUGSTORE MAKEUP!

13:50 0 Comments

Hi Guys,

I haven't been on my blog for about half a year now, so it's been a LONG TIME! I've decided to start posting about new products, and products which I have recently been testing. So what's the best way to do this, than to test out New Viral Tiktok Drugstore Makeup?!

The makeup featured, is makeup that has been going all around Tiktok, and apparently they're amazing, so I decided I was going to test them out.

I tested out four products:
NYX Marshmellow Smoothing Primer - £7 for 8ml / £15 for 30ml. Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara https://amzn.to/3jRY3nO - £9.99 Barry M XXL Lip Plumping Gloss in Clear https://amzn.to/3qodW8b - £4.99 (currently £2.49 on my amazon link) NYX Shine Loud High Shine Lip Colour in Born to Hustle - £11

First up was the Marshmellow Primer. This mentions that it is a 10-in-1 primer which is supposed to smooth the skin, even skin tone, makeup to last 16 hours, and many more. I tried this out with my trusty Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation - I've been using this for years so wanted to use a tried and tested foundation use on top of the primer to see how it goes.

Next, I tried the Maybelline Sky High Mascara. This was by far the hardest product for me to get my hands on as it was sold out pretty much everywhere! I finally managed to purchase it from Superdrug - but an hour after putting my order in, it was sold out again!
I tested both of the ways I usually do when I test out a new mascara - the rolling motion, and the zig-zag motion. Rolling tends to get more product on the lashes, and zig-zag lengthens and separates the lashes.
The mascara promises a lots of lengthening, suitable for sensitive eyes, and washable. But mentioned nothing about building up, flaking or smudging- so this made me a little worried about how it was going to apply and last on my lashes.
I applied 2 coats of mascara - I usually do 3 in all first impressions, but it was so good that I only needed 2!

Then, there were 2 lip products to test, and I wanted to test both of them in the same video to see how they were - I didn't want to wait until I filmed another video to use one of them as they were both viral on tiktok!

Barry M XXL Lip Plumping Gloss. I had seen one video in particular where someone had small lips, put this on, and came back after a few minutes with HUGE lips! They swore that it was the lip gloss and not lip filler - I had an incline it wouldn't work so decided to test it out on camera.
It promises to give you and XXL pout and a slight tingle.
I put this on and straight away, my lips were on fire! It felt as though my lips had pins and needles and I couldn't really feel them at all! I filmed my lips before applying, after 5 minutes and after 15 minutes to see if there was any difference.

After trying the plumping gloss, I took this off and decided to try the new NYX Shine Loud Lip Colour. This again, was so hard for me to get my hands one. All of the shades available online were ones which I knew I wasn't going to wear - dark colours and browns - and I wanted something I could wear a lot if I liked it, instead of wasting my money on something to just try once. I finally managed to find it in a pinky-nude shade on BeautyBay!
This lip duo promises to hydrate your lips with multiple oils, and last through eating, drinking and kissing! I decided that I'd put it to the test and drink a glass of water, and two cookies. I wasn't careful at all with them, and tried to be as messy as possible to give it a fair shot and to see if it actually lasted and I was shocked with the results!

Overall, two of the products I really enjoyed, and the other 2 didn't work out for me! Check out my video above, to see how each of these products lasted and if they're worth the money!

NikkieTutorials x Beauty Bay Pressed Pigment Eyeshadow Palette REVIEW & SWATCHES!

05:38 2 Comments

Hi Guys,

I recently tested out the Nikkietutorials x Beauty Bay palette on my youtube channel, and I wanted to share my experience and the swatches on this post (I had included the swatches in my video above).

There are 20 shades in the palette - a mixture of matte and shimmer shades, and a mix of light, dark, bright, neutral and pastel shades.

Nikkie mentioned in her video that she wanted to create a light and dark side of the palette, as there are 2 sides to her and she wanted a palette which could be versatile for everyone's needs.

There are also 2 mirrors - one on each opening flap. One mirror is a usual mirror, and the other is magnified so you can easily do your eyes when doing your makeup. I actually love the fact there are 2 mirrors in the palette, and its not heavy when you're holding it - which I though it would considering there are 20 shadows and they are pretty large pans.

Inside the palette, you also get a card which tells you about each shade as well as if it's best to use with a brush or your fingers. I tend to use my fingers for shimmer shades anyway as I feel as though you get a better payoff that way.

I swatched every shade after I had tested them out on the eyes, as I managed to test out 15 OF THE 20 SHADES on my eyes! I wanted to show you how they swatch on the arm, as well as how they show up on the eyes.

The majority of the shades swatched beautifully, and there was an exception to a couple which weren't the most pigmented, but these tended to be the lighter pastel shades, and a shimmer shade which looks as though it would be more of a topper than a stand-alone shade.

Swatches

All swatches were done dry on a clean arm, with no setting spray, and in natural light.

Top Row - (L-R) Redemption; Blend & Snap!; Ivy; Slasher; 5AM.

All shades other than 'Ivy' are Matte. All shades swatched nicely, with 'Slasher' needing a little more to get to the pigment of the others. My favourite shade in the row is 'Blend & Snap!' as it applies and blends beautifully, as well as the shade being the perfect pink-matte shade.

2nd Row - (L-R) Roxy Catan; Vla; Mikai; Mila; Underground.

There are 2 shimmer, and 3 matte shades in this row - 'Roxy Catan' and 'Underground' are the shimmers. All shades swatched beautifully other than Vla. Florescent shades are hard to do, and it is the best swatch of a florescent shade in any palette I've come across in any of my palettes. I've seen that on makeup tutorials, it does apply nicely on the eyes, however this is the only shade I didn't test on the eye.

I think 'Roxy Catan' is my favourite shade in this row - however 'Underground' and 'Mikai' are both stunning applied to the eye also.

3rd Row - (L-R) Plot Twist; Aura; Basic Trut; All-In; Ew.

There are 2 shimmers and 3 matte shades in this row - 'Aura' and 'All-In' are the shimmers. The nude and pastel mattes didn't swatch as well ask I would have hoped. I likely won't use 'Plot Twist' as I don't usually go for pastels or blues, and 'Basic Trut' could be a nice subtle transition shade, however it's very close to my skin tone which is likely why it didn't show up as well.

The other 3 shades swatched beautifully and and all applied nicely to the eye - Ew is the only one which needed to be built up, however I only used this on the lower lash line, so might pack more of a punch if I built it up on the lid. The swatch is beautiful of 'Ew', and greens are some of the hardest colours too create for shadows, so she did really well on this shade. Its one of my favourite colours as it's bright and almost neon.

'Aura' is my favourite shade from this line, however 'Ew' is a close second.

Bottom Line - (L-R) Pride; Zomer; Mama Tutorials; Amsterdam; Mr Tutorials.

This line is my favourite, as every single shade his stunning and performs really well on the swatches.

There are 3 shimmers and 2 matte shades in this line - 'Zomer' and 'Amsterdam' are the mattes.

Every shade swatched beautifully - with 'Amsterdam' being slightly less pigmented but still beautiful, m and built up well on the eye. The only shade I didn't use on my eye on this line is 'Mr Tutorials'. All shades which I used on the eye worked amazingly and were stunning.

As soon as I saw 'Mama Tutorials' I knew that this shade would be special - it reminds me of a mermaid shade and is perfect for spring and summer, or to create a mermaid makeup look.

My favourite shade from this line is 'Mama Tutorials' with 'Pride' coming a close second.

Review

Overall, I love this palette and have created some beautiful eye looks in the video, as well as several after the video was filmed. You can create so many different looks  - the possibilities are endless with this palette!

This has been a staple, and will continue to be a staple in my makeup routine because no matter what look I am feeling on a day, I can create it with this palette.

All shimmers swatched beautifully, are incredibly pigmented - you only need to dip your finger in and you'll get so much pigment on your finger. The shimmers I used on the eye performed very well when using them. The only exception is 'Ivy' as I feel it's more of a topper than a stand alone shade.

With the matte shades, the majority swatched very well, with 'Vla', 'Plot Twist' and 'Basic Trut' being the exceptions. 'Vla' could easily be built up, as I can see that the pigmentation is almost there, 'Basic Trut' I feel is too close to my skin tone to show up as well, and 'Plot Twist' didn't seem to pack the punch I bought it would have, however it is a pastel shade so may be a little more subtle than the others.

I will be featuring this palette in some more videos very soon, so if you want to see other looks I create with the palette, then keep checking back on my channel!

NYX Born To Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation!

10:46 0 Comments

Hi Guys,

So it's been A WHOLE YEAR since I posted on here, and in all honesty I just haven't had the time. I'll speak more about this in another post, but for this post, I'm going to be talking about a BRAND NEW foundation which has just come over to us in the UK.

This foundation is the NYX Born To Glow foundation, and I was a little hesitant to purchase this as I haven't had the best track record with NYX foundations - see here https://youtu.be/hF9-OZjfpng . That foundation was by far the worst I've tried and I've tried A LOT!

Anyway, I saw this in my local Boots store and quickly colour matched myself as I was in a rush. I didn't have any high hopes for this as it was glowy, radiant and by NYX. If you have oily skin, you know that we stay away from anything which promises a glow. Saying this, I really like the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and that stays put on my skin, so I thought 'why not?'.

The shade which I purchased was Medium Olive. I self tan so I always go for a warm or olive undertone and I'm usually all set, and you know what? I was proud of myself because IT MATCHED!
There are 40 shades available in all shades from very pale to very deep, so no matter which skin tone you have, you're probably going to find a perfect match.

There wasn't any claims on the packaging and the website just said that it was medium-buildable coverage, and it was cruelty free with a vegan formula.

When I applied the foundation, I used a beauty blender and it buffed out so easily and smoothly. I managed to build it up on any red areas easily, and I didn't need to have a second layer over my skin. It had a nice glow to it, and didn't make me look oily or sweaty like some do with a 'glow'.
The rest of my makeup went on very well all buffed out smoothly.
It covered all of my blemishes and the redness.

I tested this foundation out for 9 hours and it was actually amazing!

After 9 hours of wear, it basically looked the same as when I first applied it. I didn't look oily or greasy, however I didn't look matte either.
The shade matched me perfectly and the undertone was very nice and natural. I would happily wear it out after this amount of time and I would only need to do minimal touchups which is a rarity for me.

The only negatives I really have with this, is that it exxcentuated my pores and they looked huge, and it looked a little caked around my eyebrows and on my cheeks near my nose. Other than this, the foundation lasted incredibly well.

I've tested this out a couple more times since the first impression, and it is still holding up well. I will have to try it with a pore-filling primer to see if it can look any better around those areas.

Other than the 2 negatives, this foundation performed amazingly and it may be a new drugstore favourite.

Thanks for watching my videos and reading my blog,
Chloe xoxo

OOTD #18 - Winter Warmer

12:00 3 Comments
Hi Guys,

So here's my first OOTD post for this year, and it's actually of an outfit from Christmas Eve!

Me and Neil always go out for a Christmas Eve drink in the evening, as it's nice and calm, and there's usually people with their friends and families at The Belfry Resort, having a great time. Plus, there's usually a band playing Christmas music in the main drinks area. It's absolutely magical!

I've had thee boots for a few years, and they were such a steal from Forever 21, and I'm not sure if they even have anything like them now - I'll try my hardest to look and see if I can link them below.

This jumper is so nice, soft and warm, and I love bringing it out in winter, as it's stylish yet comfortable.

And the bag is only of my favourite bags - if not probably my favourite bag- I own. I will NEVER get rid of this beauty, as art was my first luxury bag purchase, ands it's just such a work of art.

All details for this outfit are listed below!

What I'm Wearing:
Top: Matalan
Jeans: Next (here)
Belt: River Island (similar)
Shoes: Forever 21 (similar)
Bag: Louis Vuitton (here)
PomPom: Home Bargains

Enjoy,
Chloe xoxo

New Year New Things - Life Update!

11:48 0 Comments
So, it's been a whole 6 months since I last posted on my blog, and I don't think I've ever had that amount of time off!

Usually I post met Christmas Wishlist (I didn't really have one this year), or my OOTD posts, or I let you know when I've uploaded a new video to my Youtube Channel here!

I'm going to start this new year by trying to make more time for my youtube channel, and my blog, because I've just been neglecting them more than usual.

There are a few reasons why I haven't been so active on both platforms, which I'm going to let you know about now.

1) I have recently received a promotion at work, and am now a Senior. This means more hours and work...and best of all more money ;) This means that I haven't managed to have enough time to film and edit videos, so some months I've only been uploading once every 2 weeks, which I absolutely hated! I love uploading at least once a week, because I love filming the videos and seeing your comments.

2) I have started 2 new online courses. Now because these are online courses, it doesn't mean that I have so much spare time because I don't. They take up time, and in truth, these have had to go on the back burner also for the last couple of months.

3) I recently bought and moved into my first house. We've been living here for around a month, so just before Christmas, which was probably the worst time to ever move in! It was so hectic, and we've still got boxes in all of the rooms, and still have boxes at our parents' houses. So soon, we should be all settled, and I'll have enough time to film multiple videos a week! YAY

One great thing which has come from last year, is that now I have moved into my own home, I finally have a filming room, so finally have somewhere quiet to film my videos! Once my schedule gets settled, I'll be filming and uploading more which I am so excited for!

In the meantime, check out my first video uploaded for this year! It's a 'What I Got For Christmas' Video, and I film these EVERY YEAR!

Enjoy. And if you have any video requests, just let me know. :)
Chloe xoxo
