NikkieTutorials x Beauty Bay Pressed Pigment Eyeshadow Palette REVIEW & SWATCHES!

05:38 2 Comments

Hi Guys,

I recently tested out the Nikkietutorials x Beauty Bay palette on my youtube channel, and I wanted to share my experience and the swatches on this post (I had included the swatches in my video above).

There are 20 shades in the palette - a mixture of matte and shimmer shades, and a mix of light, dark, bright, neutral and pastel shades.

Nikkie mentioned in her video that she wanted to create a light and dark side of the palette, as there are 2 sides to her and she wanted a palette which could be versatile for everyone's needs.

There are also 2 mirrors - one on each opening flap. One mirror is a usual mirror, and the other is magnified so you can easily do your eyes when doing your makeup. I actually love the fact there are 2 mirrors in the palette, and its not heavy when you're holding it - which I though it would considering there are 20 shadows and they are pretty large pans.

Inside the palette, you also get a card which tells you about each shade as well as if it's best to use with a brush or your fingers. I tend to use my fingers for shimmer shades anyway as I feel as though you get a better payoff that way.

I swatched every shade after I had tested them out on the eyes, as I managed to test out 15 OF THE 20 SHADES on my eyes! I wanted to show you how they swatch on the arm, as well as how they show up on the eyes.

The majority of the shades swatched beautifully, and there was an exception to a couple which weren't the most pigmented, but these tended to be the lighter pastel shades, and a shimmer shade which looks as though it would be more of a topper than a stand-alone shade.

Swatches

All swatches were done dry on a clean arm, with no setting spray, and in natural light.

Top Row - (L-R) Redemption; Blend & Snap!; Ivy; Slasher; 5AM.

All shades other than 'Ivy' are Matte. All shades swatched nicely, with 'Slasher' needing a little more to get to the pigment of the others. My favourite shade in the row is 'Blend & Snap!' as it applies and blends beautifully, as well as the shade being the perfect pink-matte shade.

2nd Row - (L-R) Roxy Catan; Vla; Mikai; Mila; Underground.

There are 2 shimmer, and 3 matte shades in this row - 'Roxy Catan' and 'Underground' are the shimmers. All shades swatched beautifully other than Vla. Florescent shades are hard to do, and it is the best swatch of a florescent shade in any palette I've come across in any of my palettes. I've seen that on makeup tutorials, it does apply nicely on the eyes, however this is the only shade I didn't test on the eye.

I think 'Roxy Catan' is my favourite shade in this row - however 'Underground' and 'Mikai' are both stunning applied to the eye also.

3rd Row - (L-R) Plot Twist; Aura; Basic Trut; All-In; Ew.

There are 2 shimmers and 3 matte shades in this row - 'Aura' and 'All-In' are the shimmers. The nude and pastel mattes didn't swatch as well ask I would have hoped. I likely won't use 'Plot Twist' as I don't usually go for pastels or blues, and 'Basic Trut' could be a nice subtle transition shade, however it's very close to my skin tone which is likely why it didn't show up as well.

The other 3 shades swatched beautifully and and all applied nicely to the eye - Ew is the only one which needed to be built up, however I only used this on the lower lash line, so might pack more of a punch if I built it up on the lid. The swatch is beautiful of 'Ew', and greens are some of the hardest colours too create for shadows, so she did really well on this shade. Its one of my favourite colours as it's bright and almost neon.

'Aura' is my favourite shade from this line, however 'Ew' is a close second.

Bottom Line - (L-R) Pride; Zomer; Mama Tutorials; Amsterdam; Mr Tutorials.

This line is my favourite, as every single shade his stunning and performs really well on the swatches.

There are 3 shimmers and 2 matte shades in this line - 'Zomer' and 'Amsterdam' are the mattes.

Every shade swatched beautifully - with 'Amsterdam' being slightly less pigmented but still beautiful, m and built up well on the eye. The only shade I didn't use on my eye on this line is 'Mr Tutorials'. All shades which I used on the eye worked amazingly and were stunning.

As soon as I saw 'Mama Tutorials' I knew that this shade would be special - it reminds me of a mermaid shade and is perfect for spring and summer, or to create a mermaid makeup look.

My favourite shade from this line is 'Mama Tutorials' with 'Pride' coming a close second.

Review

Overall, I love this palette and have created some beautiful eye looks in the video, as well as several after the video was filmed. You can create so many different looks  - the possibilities are endless with this palette!

This has been a staple, and will continue to be a staple in my makeup routine because no matter what look I am feeling on a day, I can create it with this palette.

All shimmers swatched beautifully, are incredibly pigmented - you only need to dip your finger in and you'll get so much pigment on your finger. The shimmers I used on the eye performed very well when using them. The only exception is 'Ivy' as I feel it's more of a topper than a stand alone shade.

With the matte shades, the majority swatched very well, with 'Vla', 'Plot Twist' and 'Basic Trut' being the exceptions. 'Vla' could easily be built up, as I can see that the pigmentation is almost there, 'Basic Trut' I feel is too close to my skin tone to show up as well, and 'Plot Twist' didn't seem to pack the punch I bought it would have, however it is a pastel shade so may be a little more subtle than the others.

I will be featuring this palette in some more videos very soon, so if you want to see other looks I create with the palette, then keep checking back on my channel!

NYX Born To Glow Naturally Radiant Foundation!

10:46 0 Comments

Hi Guys,

So it's been A WHOLE YEAR since I posted on here, and in all honesty I just haven't had the time. I'll speak more about this in another post, but for this post, I'm going to be talking about a BRAND NEW foundation which has just come over to us in the UK.

This foundation is the NYX Born To Glow foundation, and I was a little hesitant to purchase this as I haven't had the best track record with NYX foundations - see here https://youtu.be/hF9-OZjfpng . That foundation was by far the worst I've tried and I've tried A LOT!

Anyway, I saw this in my local Boots store and quickly colour matched myself as I was in a rush. I didn't have any high hopes for this as it was glowy, radiant and by NYX. If you have oily skin, you know that we stay away from anything which promises a glow. Saying this, I really like the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and that stays put on my skin, so I thought 'why not?'.

The shade which I purchased was Medium Olive. I self tan so I always go for a warm or olive undertone and I'm usually all set, and you know what? I was proud of myself because IT MATCHED!
There are 40 shades available in all shades from very pale to very deep, so no matter which skin tone you have, you're probably going to find a perfect match.

There wasn't any claims on the packaging and the website just said that it was medium-buildable coverage, and it was cruelty free with a vegan formula.

When I applied the foundation, I used a beauty blender and it buffed out so easily and smoothly. I managed to build it up on any red areas easily, and I didn't need to have a second layer over my skin. It had a nice glow to it, and didn't make me look oily or sweaty like some do with a 'glow'.
The rest of my makeup went on very well all buffed out smoothly.
It covered all of my blemishes and the redness.

I tested this foundation out for 9 hours and it was actually amazing!

After 9 hours of wear, it basically looked the same as when I first applied it. I didn't look oily or greasy, however I didn't look matte either.
The shade matched me perfectly and the undertone was very nice and natural. I would happily wear it out after this amount of time and I would only need to do minimal touchups which is a rarity for me.

The only negatives I really have with this, is that it exxcentuated my pores and they looked huge, and it looked a little caked around my eyebrows and on my cheeks near my nose. Other than this, the foundation lasted incredibly well.

I've tested this out a couple more times since the first impression, and it is still holding up well. I will have to try it with a pore-filling primer to see if it can look any better around those areas.

Other than the 2 negatives, this foundation performed amazingly and it may be a new drugstore favourite.

Thanks for watching my videos and reading my blog,
Chloe xoxo
